Substitute Teachers Needed

Deh Gáh School requires reliable, responsible, hard-working substitute teachers and substitute SAs to cover for staff that are away due to illness, meetings or other reasons.

If you wish to work in this capacity, you must:

  • Have a clean Criminal Record Check and clean Vulnerable Persons Sector Check from the local RCMP. We will give you a letter to take to the RCMP to get both.

  • Be willing to be up and ready to come to work every weekday by 8:30 AM in case you are called to work. These are on-call positions. You are called when we know we need a sub, which often is not until after 8 AM each day.

  • Be willing to be on stand-by to work, ready to get here by 8:30 AM.

  • Be able to follow directions from the teacher or form a lesson plan.

  • Be kind and patient with children, many of whom have complex needs.

If you are interested, please contact the school at 1-867-699-3131.

Return to in-person learning on Monday, January 24

The Chief Public Health Officer has advised that cases have peaked or are declining in many communities. Many GNWT employees will be returning to their worksites.
As the number of cases of COVID-19 in the territory increased due to the Omnicron Variant, working from home was just one way to help reduce the risk community spread and transmission.
Fort Providence employees will return to their designated worksites on January 24, 2022.
Thankfully, the processes and rules we have in place make our workplaces very safe; however, as individuals and employees we must remain cautious, conduct our own risk assessments, and continue to engage in healthy practices. Set your safety nets, get vaccinated and get a booster. If you are not vaccinated, take a moment to learn about vaccine safety and efficacy. Follow good hand hygiene and respiratory practices, and use physical distancing where appropriate.
Most importantly, after we return to the office, we will ask that if you are not feeling well, that you please stay home. Similarly, if you live with an individual who is not feeling well, please stay home also. Additionally, if you have had close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, we ask that you notify your manager and follow the recommendations of the Chief Public Health Officer.
